Coverflex Card - How does Flex Allowance work?

A flex allowance is a system of benefits provision in which employees are given a choice on the makeup of their total benefits package from an employer. To simplify: with a flex allowance, you are given a fixed monthly amount that you are free to spend on employee benefits of your choice, within the allowed categories. Usually, this Flex allowance is added to the employee's Coverflex account where they can choose how and where to use it. 

Typically, employees can either use their allowance to cover the full cost of a benefit or a range of benefits. With Coverflex employees have a vast range of benefits they can choose from

The flex allowance in the employees' Coverflex plan is exempt from taxation. 

Employees also have a work-from-home allowance which is added to their salaries every month, and it is taxed along with the salary.

How is the flex allowance used?

With Coverflex:

1. The Coverflex Card will be sent to the employee's address 
2. Once they receive the card they need to sign in to their Coverflex account through the web browser or app and activate their card. 
3. They will then be able to use their flex allowance however they like through their Coverflex account or using their Visa Coverflex card in selected stores.
